Aetna to Buy Humana for $37 Billion

The New York Times (Abelson, Bray, 7/3, subscription publication) reported that "Aetna said on Friday that it had agreed to acquire its smaller rival Humana for $37 billion in cash and stock. ... The deal would bring together two of the biggest health insurers in the United States. The combined company would have estimated operating revenue of $115 billion this year and serve more than 33 million people. ... The transaction is subject to shareholder and regulatory approval and is expected to close in the second half of 2016."
