U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee Bill Includes 340B Program User Fee

July 1, 2015

On June 25, “the Senate Committee on Appropriations approved the FY2016 Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education and Related Agencies (Labor-HHS) Appropriations Bill.” Along with increasing funding for NIH and community health centers, the bill would authorize the Secretary of Health and Human Services to “collect a fee of 0.1 percent of each purchase of 340B drugs from entities participating in the Drug Pricing Program” in order to pay for program operating costs. The fee will be collected based on sales data submitted by manufacturers. The bill will now go to the full Senate for debate.
